Trophy Portraits - by David Villec
Creating Original Oil Paintings From Your Hunting Images

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
It is my belief that the painting should be a place of voyeuristic realism, a place that invites you to envision yourself in the composition. It should offer warmth and comfort, along with avenues for exploration. Observers often comment that they feel as if they could walk into one of my pieces.
So, Come on in and Take a Look Around.

BACKGROUND
David J. Villec was born in Riverside, California in 1968. David’s love of art developed during his first art class when he was a high school student in Eureka, California. He became very interested in the technical aspect of art, questioning why certain brushes and techniques were used. His skill as an artist was further enhanced when he studied drafting, creating a talent for detail which is evident in the minute precision of his work.

Throughout all of his works, Villec’s first and greatest passion has been learning the fundamental basis for all things in nature. Villec is inspired by the work of the Hudson River School and landscape masters Albert Bierdstadt and Thomas Cole. His acute eye for detail combined with his technical skill as an artist allows him to create stunningly poetic yet tangible views of our natural world.

Villec pursued a career as a Chemical Engineer, but he would often use art as an escape from the reality of his surroundings. He would create images of the places and people he had visited as a means to relive those pleasant memories. He has captured scenes from his travels around the globe in locations, including Africa, Asia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Europe, Montana, Iowa, Texas and California. David recently graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas. Despite the rigors of law school, Villec has found great inspiration and enjoyment in the progression of his blossoming career as an artist.
